Description
'View of the Western Side of Sydney Cove', c.1804, by George William Evans, pencil, ink & watercolour. This work was probably commissioned by Governor Philip Gidley King when Evans held the position of acting Surveyor-General of Sydney. The date attributed is based on the appearance of St Phillip's Church, which was completed in 1804, and the absence of James Underwood's house (finished 1805).
