Description
The City & Harbour of Sydney from near Vaucluse by George French Angas is a hand-coloured lithograph by Thomas Boys, published by J. Hogarth, and Messrs Woolcott & Clarke, Sydney, 1852.

As Angas noted in the catalogue of his 1846 London exhibition: he aimed to paint images as faithful visual records of 'countries with which the people of England are still but imperfectly acquainted'. This lithograph satisfies both an accurate topographical and botanical representation while fulfilling Angas' quest for the picturesque.
