Description
This painting depicts mutineers turning Captain William Bligh and some of his officers and crew adrift from HMS Bounty. Bligh would later become the fourth Governor of the colony of Sydney and take up residence in first Government House, where he was later deposed of his governorship by armed force during the ‘Rum Rebellion’ in 1808. This painting depicts an important event in the life of Bligh, an important figure in the history of Sydney.
