Description
This is an unused part roll of wallpaper used to paper the principal bedroom of a house in Longueville, Sydney. Only one long wall of the bedroom was papered, because built-in furniture and a large bay window would have hindered further papering. The wallpaper was installed when the house was constructed in 1958 and was still in place when this wallpaper was acquired in 2002. The house had been constructed by William Stuart of the Sydney building firm Stuart Bros as his family residence. A selection of other furnishings including kitchen wallpaper are held in the collection, while architectural drawings and slides of the original house construction process are housed in the Caroline Simpson library collection.
