Description
This circular Marengo striped wool shag rug was installed by interior designers, Marion Best Pty Ltd, as part of a furnishing scheme for Richard and Joan Crebbin's house, Penhallow, in Castlecrag, Sydney. The Crebbins were one of Marion Hall Best's most important clients throughout the 1960s and 70s. Best refurnished Penhallow with expensive international imports on more than one occasion. The Crebbins acted as patrons to artists, craftspeople, and to Best herself, introducing her to their relatives and friends who eventually became her clients. The accompanying images show details of the front and back of the rug.
