Woodfall, Law, Printers to the King's most Excellent Majesty; for T Cadell, in the Strand. M.DCC. LXXII. Comprising 466 pages plus two tables and one index. First published in 1755. Bound in tan leather, gold embossed on spine, 'Burn's Justice of the Peace'. Inscribed on first free endpaper, 'To H.C Antill Esq. J.P. From His Sincere Friend, L. Macquarie Sydney 29 Jan. 1822'. On inserted flyleaf is inscribed 'Governor Macquarie London 10. May 1809'. On title page, above title is inscribed, 'L. Macquarie'.
Governor Lachlan Macquarie (b.1761, d.1824) sailed for New South Wales on the 22 May 1809, likely bringing this volume with him from England. It seem he passed this volume to his friend HC Antill (b.1779, d.1852), who had been appointed Justice of the Peace in 1821, shortly before leaving Sydney on 22 February 1822.
