Elizabeth Farm - cedar four-post bedstead in the Library-Bedroom
Description
Bed - head: two tapered hardwood posts - square section. Head of solid cedar, rail of hardwood. Tongued and bolted bed-end: two cedar posts. The lower part turned feet and arched shape, recessed bolt cover plates on 2 sides, upper part of simple carved and fluted tulip form, supporting a reeded, tapered column, ending in a plain round canopy support. Side rails; two hardwood tongued into the end posts and locked with two bolts. Chiselled rebates to take 7 hardwood mattress supports. Cedar canopy mouldings to cornice detail. Iron rail round section.

Reproduction of bed in possession of Lady MacArthur Onslow, Mt Gilead. Dressed based on London pattern.
